Entertainment Center/Library/Desk in Red Oak
This project was
a ton of fun to build. I had been given artistic license to compliment
the
furniture the
Pierce's had in their house, so I got out some of my Wenge for accents
and door pulls.
I also had to come up with a good way to incorporate all the storage needs necessary for the stereo/tv systems, computer and cd/dvd and book storage areas.
Beneath the left bookcase and next to the cd tower, I had a gap to fill, so I designed a pull-out caddy that would hold paper, pens and other necessary office items. The desktop was made from solid red oak with a bookmatched panels 'look'. The screws were countersunk and doweled.
All the shelves
were made to slide out in the entertainment center area with full extension
Accuride 100 lb slides as was the printer shelf. This allows the owners
to change stereo and tv components without
the usual troubles.
The finish is natural stain under two coats of polyurethane [3 on the desktop]. [The fuzzy black spots are due to something that was on the lens of my camera].
